This clock case is made of slate and marble, lined with cement, and is nice and massive. The movement is not marked with a company name, but the style of the serial numbers makes me think it’s from the 1860’s.It’s definitely made in France.
The clock runs and strikes smoothly. The open escapement is a very desirable feature. Note the red pins on the “rocker” in the center of the dial. These are semi-precious gems, used because they are very hard and resist wear. Lower quality movements use steel pins in place of the jewels.
